مَا أَحْسَنَ الصَّبْرَ وَ انْتِظَارَ الْفَرَج‏.

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

How good is patience and [actively] anticipating relief [i.e. the coming of the awaited saviour; Imam al-Mahdi].

بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَاجِبٌ وَ إِنْ كَانَا مُشْرِكَيْنِ وَ لَا طَاعَةَ لَهُمَا فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَل .‏

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Being good to one's parents is obligatory, even if they are polytheists, but there is no obedience due to them if it entails disobedience to Allah, Mighty and Exalted.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):

إنّ العبدَ إذا اختارَهُ اللّهُ عزّ و جلّ لاُمورِ عبادِهِ شَرحَ صَدرَهُ لذلكَ ، و أودَعَ قلبَهُ يَنابِيعَ الحِكمةِ، و ألْهَمهُ العِلمَ إلهاما ، فلَم يَعْيَ بعدَهُ بجوابٍ و لا يَحيرُ فيهِ عنِ الصّوابِ .

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Whenever Allah selects a person to manage the affairs of His creation, He opens his breast [endows him with tolerance] for that purpose, and he makes springs of wisdom flow in his heart, and bestows knowledge to him by way of inspiration, after which he never again lacks the ability to answer, nor is he confused from finding the right way out.

مُرِ الصَّبيَّ فلْيَتَصدَّقْ بيدِهِ بالكِسْرةِ و القَبْضةِ و الشَّيءِ و إنْ قَلَّ ، فإنَّ كلَّ شيءٍ يُرادُ بهِ اللّهُ ـ و إنْ قَلَّ ـ بعدَ أنْ تَصدُقَ النِّيّةُ فيهِ عظيمٌ .

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Instruct the child to give charity with his own hand, be it a piece of bread or a handful of [food] or any other small thing, for everything - no matter how little it is -if done for the sake of Allah and with an honest intention- is great.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):

أمّا الخَبيرُ فالّذي لا يَعزُبُ عَنهُ شَيءٌ و لا يَفوتُهُ ، لَيسَ لِلتَّجرِبَةِ و لا لِلاعتِبارِ بِالأشياءِ ، فعِندَ التَّجرِبَةِ و الاعتِبارِ عِلمانِ ، و لَولاهُما ما عَلِمَ ؛ لأنَّ مَن كانَ كذلِكَ كانَ جاهِلاً .

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

God is all-aware in the sense that nothing escapes His attention or evades Him, [His knowledge being] independent of experience or consideration of things, for experience and consideration in turn produce two types of knowledge, without which He would not know [if he were to be dependent on them], and would therefore be ignorant.

الإمامُ الرِّضا عليه السلام ـ لَمّا سَألَهُ يُونسُ عَنِ اليَقينِ ـ : التَّوكُّلُ علَى اللّهِ ، و التَّسليمُ للّهِ ، و الرِّضا بِقَضاءِ اللّهِ ، و التَّفْويضُ إلى اللّهِ .

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Imam al-Rida (as), when asked about conviction, said: '[It is] Trust in Allah, submission to Allah, satisfaction with Allah’s decree, and handing over [one’s affairs] to Allah.'

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):

الإيمانُ فَوقَ الإسلامِ بدَرَجَةٍ ، و التَّقوى فَوقَ الإيمانِ بدَرَجَةٍ ، و اليَقينُ فَوقَ التَّقوى بدَرَجَةٍ ، و لَم يُقسَمْ بَينَ العِبادِ شيءٌ أقَلُّ مِن اليَقينِ .

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Faith is one degree higher than Islam [in rank], God wariness (Taqwa) is one degree higher than faith, and conviction is one degree higher than God wariness, and there is nothing least distributed among people than conviction.
