الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إِنَّ عِيسَى اِبْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ قَالَ دَاوَيْتُ اَلْمَرْضَى فَشَفَيْتُهُمْ بِإِذْنِ اَللَّهِ وَ أَبْرَأْتُ اَلْأَكْمَهَ وَ اَلْأَبْرَصَ بِإِذْنِ اَللَّهِ وَ عَالَجْتُ اَلْمَوْتَى فَأَحْيَيْتُهُمْ بِإِذْنِ اَللَّهِ وَ عَالَجْتُ اَلْأَحْمَقَ فَلَمْ أَقْدِرْ عَلَى إِصْلاَحِهِ فَقِيلَ يَا رُوحَ اَللَّهِ وَ مَا اَلْأَحْمَقُ قَالَ اَلْمُعْجَبُ بِرَأْيِهِ وَ نَفْسِهِ اَلَّذِي يَرَى اَلْفَضْلَ كُلَّهُ لَهُ لاَ عَلَيْهِ وَ يُوجِبُ اَلْحَقَّ كُلَّهُ لِنَفْسِهِ وَ لاَ يُوجِبُ عَلَيْهَا حَقّاً فَذَلِكَ اَلْأَحْمَقُ اَلَّذِي لاَ حِيلَةَ فِي مُدَاوَاتِهِ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: Jesus the son of Mary said: I gave medicine to the sick and cured them by God's will. I gave sight to the blind and healed the leper by God's will. I tended to the dead and gave them life by God's will. I tended to the fool, but I was unable to correct him. Jesus was then asked: Oh, spirit of God! Who is a fool? Jesus replied: One who is enamoured with himself and his own ideas, who sees only himself in possession of every virtue, and who considers only himself as right and no one else. Such a person as this is a fool, to whose cure there is no road.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

رسولُ اللّه صلی‏ الله ‏علیه و ‏آله : قالُوا [الحَوارِیّونَ لعیسی علیه السلام] : یا رُوحَ اللّه، فمَن نُجالِسُ إذا؟ قالَ: مَن یُذَکِّرُکُمُ اللّه‏َ رُؤیَتُهُ، و یَزیدُ فی عِلْمِکُم منطِقُهُ و یُرَغِّبُکُم فی الآخِرَةِ عَمَلُهُ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

It has been narrated by Imam Sadiq (a.s) that the Messenger of God (PBUH) said: The Apostles asked Jesus: Oh spirit of God! Whose company are we to keep? Jesus replied: One whose sight makes you remember God, whose speech adds to your knowledge and whose conduct makes you yearn for the Hereafter.

اَلْقُلُوبُ إِذَا لَمْ تَخْرِقْهَا اَلشَّهَوَاتُ أَوْ يُدَنِّسْهَا اَلطَّمَعُ أَوْ يُقْسِهَا اَلنَّعِيمُ فَسَوْفَ تَكُونُ أَوْعِيَةَ اَلْحِكْمَةِ

:

"Jesus (PBUH) said: As long as hearts do not become torn apart by desires, stained by greed and hardened by material goods, they will become vessels of deep wisdom."

يَا عَبِيدَ اَلسَّوْءِ تَلُومُونَ اَلنَّاسَ عَلَى اَلظَّنِّ وَ لاَ تَلُومُونَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ عَلَى اَلْيَقِينِ

:

"Jesus (PBUH) said: O God's sinful servants! You blame people based on mere suspicion, while you don't blame yourselves even while certain of your own faults."

قَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ لِجَبْرَئِيلَ مَتَى قِيَامُ اَلسَّاعَةِ فَانْتَفَضَ جَبْرَئِيلُ اِنْتِفَاضَةً أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهَا فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ يَا رُوحَ اَللَّهِ مَا اَلْمَسْئُولُ أَعْلَمَ بِهَا مِنَ اَلسَّائِلِ وَ لَهُ مَنْ فِي اَلسَّمٰاوٰاتِ وَ اَلْأَرْضِ لاٰ تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلاّٰ بَغْتَةً

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: Jesus the son of Mary (PBUH) asked Gabriel (PBUH): When will Judgement Day be? Gabriel began to tremble a great trembling until he lost consciousness. When he awoke, he said: Oh Spirit of God! The one who has been inquired knows no more than the inquirer. The answer is with He to whom the heavens and the earth belong. The Day of Judgement will not come but unexpectedly.

كَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ اَلْعِلْمِ مَنْ دُنْيَاهُ عِنْدَهُ آثَرُ مِنْ آخِرَتِهِ وَ هُوَ مُقْبِلٌ عَلَى دُنْيَاهُ وَ مَا يَضُرُّهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا يَنْفَعُهُ

:

"Jesus (PBUH) said: How could he who prefers his material life to his afterlife be counted amongst those with knowledge? He who embraces his material life and prefers what is harmful to him over that which is beneficial."

خُذُوا اَلْحَقَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ اَلْبَاطِلِ وَ لاَ تَأْخُذُوا اَلْبَاطِلَ مِنْ أَهْلِ اَلْحَقِّ كُونُوا نُقَّادَ اَلْكَلاَمِ

:

"Jesus (PBUH) said: Take the truth from people of falsehood and do not take falsehood from people of truth. Be critical of what you hear."

بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ كَمَا نظر [يَنْظُرُ] اَلْمَرِيضُ إِلَى اَلطَّعَامِ فَلاَ يَلْتَذُّ بِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ اَلْوَجَعِ كَذَلِكَ صَاحِبُ اَلدُّنْيَا لاَ يَلْتَذُّ بِالْعِبَادَةِ وَ لاَ يَجِدُ حَلاَوَتَهَا مَعَ مَا يَجِدُهُ مِنْ حَلاَوَةِ اَلدُّنْيَا

:

Jesus (PBUH) said: Let me reveal a truth to you: Just as a sick man gazes upon delicious food but cannot savour it due to his extreme pain, the worldly man cannot savour the sweetness of worship due to his love for money.

قَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ لِرَجُلٍ مَا تَصْنَعُ قَالَ أَتَعَبَّدُ قَالَ فَمَنْ يَعُودُ عَلَيْكَ قَالَ أَخِي قَالَ أَخُوكَ أَعْبَدُ مِنْكَ

:

Prophet Jesus (AS) asked a man, ‘What are you doing?’ The man replied, ‘I am worshipping.’ So he asked, ‘Then who is it that supports you [financially]?’ He replied, ‘My brother’, to which Prophet Jesus (AS) said, ‘Your brother is a better worshipper than you.’
