[فَرَضَ اللَّهُ] الْحَجَّ تَقْرِبَةً لِلدِّينِ

Imam Ali (as):

Allah has made Hajj [pilgrimage to the House of Allah in Mecca] incumbent upon Muslims as a way of their unity and gathering around the axis of religion.

الْقَلْبُ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ فَلَا تُسْكِنْ حَرَمَ اللَّهِ غَيْرَ اللَّهِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

The heart is the sanctuary of Allah, so do not lodge other than Allah in Allah's sanctuary.

مَنْ أَمَرَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ فَهُوَ خَلِيفَةُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَ خَلِيفَةُ رَسُولِه‏ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

He who enjoins good and forbids wrong is indeed the vicegerent of God on the earth and that of His messenger.

السَّخِيُّ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ بَعِيدٌ مِنَ النَّار .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The generous person is close to Allah, close to people and close to Paradise, and far away from the Fire.

لَا تُكْثِرُوا الْكَلَامَ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ الْكَلَامِ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَقْسُو الْقَلْب‏ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Do not speak too much about things other than the remembrance of Allah, for verily too much speech devoid of Allah’s remembrance hardens the heart.

Imam Ali (as):

The most beloved servant of God is the one who... has obligated himself to maintain justice, and the first instance of his justice is negation of base desires from his soul.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَبْكِيَ فَلْيَبْكِ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَلْيُشْعِرْ قَلْبَهُ الْحُزْنَ وَ لْيَتَبَاكَ إِنَّ الْقَلْبَ الْقَاسِيَ بَعِيدٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَ لكِنْ لا يَشْعُرُون‏.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

O Abazar, one who is able to weep [over his sins] must do so, and one who is unable to weep must accustom his heart to sorrow and endeavor to weep. Verily [one with] a hard heart is far from Allah but they perceive it not.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

زِيَارَةُ الْعُلَمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ سَبْعِينَ طَوَافاً حَوْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ حِجَّةً وَ عُمْرَةً مَبْرُورَةً مَقْبُولَةً وَ رَفَعَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ سَبْعِينَ دَرَجَةً وَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الرَّحْمَةَ وَ شَهِدَتْ لَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Visiting the scholars is more beloved to Allah than circumambulating the Ka’bah for seventy times, is better than seventy accepted Hajj and Umrah, and Allah elevates the visitor’s station by seventy degrees, sends mercy down upon him and the angels testify that the Heaven is obligatory for him.
