الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

مِنَ الْخُرْقِ الْمُعَاجَلَةُ قَبْلَ الاْمْكَانِ، وَالاْناةُ بَعْدَ الْفُرْصَةِ

Imam Ali (as):

The one who rushes in before the time is right and the one who hesitates when the opportunity arrives are both fools.

كُلُّ مُعَاجَلٍ يَسْأَلُ الْإِنْظَارَ وَ كُلُّ مُؤَجَّلٍ يَتَعَلَّلُ بِالتَّسْوِيفِ

Imam Ali (as):

He whom death overtakes early calls for more time, and he whose death is deferred continues to put forth excuses with further procrastination.

Carry out your own chores and responsibilities, for if you don't, no one else will carry them out for you.

ثلاثُ علاماتٍ لِلمُرائي : يَنشَطُ إذا رَأى الناسَ ، و يَكسَلُ إذا كانَ وَحدَهُ ، و يُحِبُّ أن يُحمَدَ في جَميعِ اُمُورِهِ .

Imam Ali (as):

Three characteristics distinguish a show off: he is energetic and active whilst in the presence of people, but he is lazy when he is by himself, and he loves to be praised for everything does.

إذا هَمَّ أحَدُكُم بِخَيرٍ أو صِلَةٍ فإنَّ عَن يَمينِهِ و شِمالِهِ شَيطانَينِ، فلْيُبادِرْ لا يَكُفّاهُ عَن ذلكَ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

When any of you aims to do something good or make a donation, two devils stand on his right and left side, so he must rush to do it immediately, or they will prevent him from doing it.
