Hadiths Of The Status of the Heart

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إنَّ مَنزِلَةَ القلبِ مِن الجَسَدِ بمَنزِلَهِ ‏الإمامِ مِن الناسِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

The status of the heart to the body is the same as that of a leader among people.

People are like trees, although their drink is the same, they yield different types of fruits.

Imam Ali (as):

Indeed this [carnal] soul prompts [men] to evil, therefore one who overlooks it, it will rush him into sinful acts.

He for whom Allah has not made an exhorter from his own self, the exhortations of people will not benefit him at all.

إنّ لِلجِسمِ سِتَّةَ أحوالٍ: الصِّحّةُ، و المَرضُ، و المَوتُ، و الحَياةُ، و النَّومُ، و اليَقَظَةُ، و كذلكَ الرُّوحُ، فحياتُها عِلمُها، و مَوتُها جَهلُها، و مَرَضُها شَكُّها، و صِحَّتُها يَقِينُها، و نَومُها غَفلَتُها، و يَقَظَتُها حِفظُها.

Imam Ali (as):

The body experiences six different states: health, sickness, death, life, sleep and wakefulness, and so does the spirit. Its life is its knowledge and its death ignorance; its sickness is doubt whereas its health is certainty; its sleep is its negligence and its wakefulness is its consciousness.
