اَلْقُلُوبُ إِذَا لَمْ تَخْرِقْهَا اَلشَّهَوَاتُ أَوْ يُدَنِّسْهَا اَلطَّمَعُ أَوْ يُقْسِهَا اَلنَّعِيمُ فَسَوْفَ تَكُونُ أَوْعِيَةَ اَلْحِكْمَةِ

:

"Jesus (PBUH) said: As long as hearts do not become torn apart by desires, stained by greed and hardened by material goods, they will become vessels of deep wisdom."

إِنَّ كَلَامَ الْحُكَمَاءِ إِذَا كَانَ صَوَاباً كَانَ دَوَاءً وَ إِذَا كَانَ خَطَأً كَانَ دَاءً

Imam Ali (as):

When the utterance of wise men is valid and to the point, it serves as a cure, but if it is wrong, it brings about an illness.

عَوِّدْ أُذُنَكَ حُسْنَ الِاسْتِمَاعِ وَ لَا تُصْغِ إِلَى مَا لَا يَزِيدُ فِي صلَاحِكَ اسْتِمَاعُهُ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُصْدِئُ الْقُلُوبَ وَ يُوجِبُ الْمَذَامَّ .

Imam Ali (as):

Accustom your ears to listening attentively, and do not listen to anything that does not benefit your progress, for it contaminates the heart and brings about reproach.

مَا أَهْدَى الْمَرْءُ الْمُسْلِمُ عَلَى أَخِيهِ هَدِيَّةً أَفْضَلَ مِنْ كَلِمَةِ حِكْمَةٍ يَزِيدُهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا هُدًى وَ يَرُدُّهُ عَنْ رَدًى .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

No Muslim has ever gifted his fellow brother with a gift better than a wise saying through which God increases in his guidance and keeps him away from falling into ruin.

Seek to acquire wisdom and wear the garment of tranquility for they are the adornments of the righteous.

Imam Ali (as):

It is through intellect that the depth of wisdom is explored and likewise, the depth of intellect is only explored through wisdom.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):

إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ قُلُوبَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَطْوِيَّةً مُبْهَمَةً عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ؛ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ اسْتِنَارَةَ مَا فِيهَا نَضَحَهَا بِالْحِكْمَةِ، وَ زَرَعَهَا بِالْعِلْمِ، وَ زَارِعُهَا وَ الْقَيِّمُ عَلَيْهَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

Imam al-Kazim (as):

Verily Allah created the hearts of believers folded in and sealed with faith, thus, when He intends for what is in it to illuminate, He irrigates it with rain of wisdom, and plants knowledge therein, therefore, its cultivator and caretaker is the Lord of the worlds.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله: : إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ سَكَتُوا؛ فَكَانَ سُكُوتُهُمْ ذِكْراً ، وَ نَظَرُوا؛ فَكَانَ نَظَرُهُمْ عِبْرَةً، وَ نَطَقُوا؛ فَكَانَ نُطْقُهُمْ حِكْمَةً، وَ مَشَوْا؛ فَكَانَ مَشْيُهُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بَرَكَةً.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Verily the friends of God keep silent and their silence is fraught with the remembrance of God, they look and while looking, they take a lesson, they speak and their speech is wisdom, and they walk and their walking among people is a blessing for them.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

مَنْ زَهِدَ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَثْبَتَ‏ اللَّهُ الْحِكْمَةَ فِي قَلْبِهِ، وَ أَنْطَقَ‏ بِهَا لِسَانَهُ، وَ بَصَّرَهُ عُيُوبَ الدُّنْيَا دَاءَهَا وَ دَوَاءَهَا، وَ أَخْرَجَهُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِماً إِلى‏ دَارِ السَّلَامِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

He who abstains from [the vain pleasures of] the world God will establish wisdom in his heart, make his tongue speak it, open his eyes to the flaws of the world, its illnesses as well as its cures and will take him out safely from this world into the abode of peace.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):

مِنْ عَلَامَاتِ الْفِقْهِ‏: الْحِلْمُ، وَ الْعِلْمُ‏ ، وَ الصَّمْتُ؛ إِنَّ الصَّمْتَ بَابٌ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْحِكْمَةِ؛ إِنَ‏ الصَّمْتَ يَكْسِبُ الْمَحَبَّةَ؛ إِنَّهُ‏ دَلِيلٌ عَلى‏ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ.

Imam al-Reḍa (as):

Among the signs of a jurist are clemency, knowledge, and silence. Verily silence is one of the doors to wisdom; verily silence secures love; verily it leads one to all good.
