Hadiths Of The Worst Form of Truthfulness

أَقْبَحُ الصِّدْقِ ثَنَاءُ الرَّجُلِ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ .

Imam Ali (as):

The worst form of truthfulness is man's praise of himself.

مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ مُؤْمِناً وَ اسْتَحْقَرَهُ‏ لِقِلَّةِ ذَاتِ يَدِهِ‏ وَ لِفَقْرِهِ، شَهَرَهُ‏ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلى‏ رُؤُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

He who degrades a believer and scorns him for his poverty or lack of means, Allah, most High, will publicly disgrace him on the day of judgment.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):

How I wonder at the one who is proud and boastful; He was created with a sperm and will turn into a carcass and between these two states, he doe’s not know what will happen to him.

It is surprising to see an arrogant and proud person who yesterday was but a sperm and tomorrow will be but a carcass.
