From time to time, we finds ourselves in the dilemma of whether to pardon someone or to punish them for something wrong they have done. In such a situation, it is better to pardon than to punish, because pardon is itself a moral virtue and even if it fails to improve the behavior of the wrongdoer, it surely is effective in strengthening the morality of the forgiving individual. Also, when it is difficult to prefer one of the two options, the risk of regretting either of the two choices will be high and in such a case, feeling guilty for having punished someone is usually heavier and more difficult to bear than feeling regret for having pardoned them. ;
