الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

لَيْسَ لِلْعَاقِلِ أَنْ يَكُونَ شَاخِصاً إِلاَّ فِي ثَلاَثٍ: مَرَمَّةٍ لِمَعَاشٍ، أَوْ خُطْوَةٍ فِي مَعَادٍ، أَوْ لَذَّةٍ فِي غَيْرِ مُحَرَّمٍ

Imam Ali (as):

The man of reason sets out for no purpose other than these three: to seek his livelihood, to take a step forward on the path of return to God, or to enjoy pleasures that are not forbidden.

لِلْمُؤْمِنِ ثَلاَثُ سَاعَات: فَسَاعَةٌ يُنَاجِي فِيهَا رَبَّهُ، وَسَاعَةٌ يَرُمُّ مَعَاشَهُ، وَسَاعَةٌ يُخَلِّي بَيْنَ نَفْسِهِ وَبَيْنَ لَذَّتِهَا فِيَما يَحِلُّ وَيَجْمُلُ

Imam Ali (as):

The believer divides his time into three parts: in one part, he communes with his Lord, in another, he seeks his livelihood, and in the third, he allows himself to enjoy pleasures that are licit and good.

Don’t ask about what is not going to happen. You have enough to preoccupy you in dealing with what has happened.

إذا استَهَلَّ رَمَضانُ غُلِّقَتْ أبوابُ النارِ ، وفُتِحَتْ أبوابُ الجِنانِ ، وصُفِّدَتِ الشَّياطينُ

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

As soon as the month of Ramadan sets in, the gates of Hell are locked up, the gates of Paradise are opened, and the devils are bound up

العُمرُ الّذي أعذَرَ اللّهُ فيهِ إلَى ابنِ ‏آدَمَ سِتّونَ سَنَةً.

Imam Ali (as):

The age up to which Allah accepts the excuse of His servants for certain things is sixty years.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

إذَا كانَ يَومُ القِيامَةِ نودِيَ: أينَ‏ أبناءُ السِّتّينَ؟ وهُوَالعُمرُ الّذي قالَ اللّهُ تَعالى: «أوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُم ما يَتَذَكَّرُ فيهِ مَن تَذَكَّرَ».

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

On the Day of Resurrection, it will be announced, ‘Where are the sixty year olds?’ for this is the age referring to which Allah, most High, has said, “Did we not give you a life long enough that one who is heedful might take admonition?”

إنَّ عُمرَكَ مَهرُ سَعادَتِكَ إن أنفَدتَهُ في طاعَةِ رَبِّكَ.

Verily your lifetime is the ransom for your eternal prosperity if you spend it in the obedience of your Lord.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

رَحِمَ اللّهُ امرَأً عَلِمَ أنَّ نَفَسَهُ خُطاهُ إلى أجَلِهِ، فبادَرَ عَمَلَهُ وقَصَّرَ أمَلَهُ.

Imam Ali (as):

May Allah have mercy on the man who knows that his breaths are but his steps towards his death, so he hastens to perform good deeds and cuts short his high hopes.
