مَن أرادَ الغِنى بِلا مالٍ ، و راحَةَ القَلبِ مِنَ الحَسَدِ ، و السَّلامَةَ في الدِّينِ ، فَلْيَتَضَرَّعْ إلَى اللّهِ عَزَّ و جلَّ في مَسألَتِهِ بِأن يُكمِلَ عَقلَهُ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
He who wants wealth without the need for riches, and comfort of the heart free from jealousy, and security in his faith should implore Allah, Mighty and Exalted, in his plea for Him to perfect his intellect.

وُضِعَ عن اُمَّتي تِسعُ خِصالٍ : الخَطأُ ، و النِّسيانُ ، و ما لا يَعلَمونَ ، و ما لا يُطيقونَ ، و ما اضطُرُّوا إلَيهِ ، و ما استُكرِهوا علَيهِ ، و الطِّيَرَةُ ، و الوَسوَسَةُ في التَّفكُّرِ في الخَلقِ ، و الحَسَدُ ما لَم يَظهَرْ بِلسانٍ أو يَدٍ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Nine things have been forgiven to my community: the mistake, forgetfulness, that which they do not know, that which they cannot bear, that which they are forced to do, that which they are compelled to do, the evil omen, [Satan's] insinuations in thinking about [the origin of] creation, and jealousy that is not manifest on the tongue or the hand.

بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يَكُونُ ذَا وَجْهَيْنِ وَ ذَا لِسَانَيْنِ‏، يُطْرِي أَخَاهُ‏ شَاهِداً، وَ يَأْكُلُهُ‏ غَائِباً؛ إِنْ أُعْطِيَ حَسَدَهُ، وَ إِنِ ابْتُلِيَ‏ خَذَلَهُ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
How wicked is the servant who is two-faced and two-tongued; he compliments his brother in his presence, but once he is absent, he starts vilifying him. If his brother is given something, he becomes jealous and as soon as he is plagued by an affliction, he abandons him.

قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِمُوسَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عليه السلام: يَا ابْنَ عِمْرَانَ، لَاتَحْسُدَنَ‏ النَّاسَ عَلى مَا آتَيْتُهُمْ‏ مِنْ فَضْلِي، وَ لَاتَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلى‏ ذلِكَ، وَ لَاتُتْبِعْهُ‏ نَفْسَكَ؛ فَإِنَّ الْحَاسِدَ سَاخِطٌ لِنِعَمِي‏، صَادٌّ لِقَسْمِيَ‏ الَّذِي‏ قَسَمْتُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِي، وَ مَنْ يَكُ كَذلِكَ، فَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ، وَ لَيْسَ مِنِّي.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Allah said to prophet Moses (as), O son of 'Imran, do not ever be jealous of people for what I have bestowed upon them of My grace and do not extend your eyes towards it and do not preoccupy your heart with it, for verily the jealous one is discontented with My bounties and rejects the way I have distributed My bounties among people. And I disassociate Myself from such people as they are not from Me either.

إِنَّ الْحَسَدَ لَيَأْكُلُ‏ الْإِيمَانَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ‏ النَّارُ الْحَطَبَ.

Jelousy consumes faith the same way fire consumes firewood.

يقولُ إبليسُ لِجُنُودِهِ : ألقُوا بَينَهُمُ الحَسَدَ و البَغيَ ؛ فإنّهُما يَعدِلانِ عِندَ اللّهِ الشِّركَ.

Iblis [Satan] addresses his troops saying, 'Sow jealousy and aggression among them, for verily these are tantamount to polytheism in the sight of Allah.

فيما ناجَى اللّهُ عَزَّ و جلَّ بهِ موسى عليه السلام : .... لا تَغبِطْ أحَدا بكَثرَةِ المالِ ؛ فإنَّ مَعَ كَثرَةِ المالِ تَكثُرُ الذُّنوبُ لِواجِبِ الحُقوقِ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
In one of Allah's intimate conversations with Prophet Moses (AS), He said, O Moses, do not envy anyone for their abundant wealth, for when one’s wealth increases, so does his sins, due to its obligatory rights [they usually fail to fulfill].
