Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (AS) said to Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari': O Jabir, the mainstay of religion and the world are four persons: The scholar who acts on his knowledge; the ignorant who does not refrains from learning; the generous who is not niggardly in his favors; and the destitute who does not sell his next life for his worldly benefits. Consequently, when the scholar wastes his knowledge [and does not act upon it], the ignorant refrains from learning, and when the generous is niggardly with his favors, the destitute sells his next life for worldly benefits.
Imam Ali (as):
God has not obligated the ignorant to learn without first obligating the learned to teach.

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (AS) said to a man who asked him regarding a puzzling issue, 'Ask in order to genuinely comprehend [the matter], and do not ask importunately causing further confusion thereby, for verily the ignorant person willing to learn is like a knowledgeable man, whereas the knowledgeable man who acts haphazardly is like an obstinate ignorant man.'

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Seek knowledge and along with it, adorn yourself with clemency and solemnity, be humble towards the one whom you teach as well as the one from whom you seek knowledge and do not be among tyrant scholars lest your evil deeds nullify your good deeds.

Imam Ali (as):
The lowest form of knowledge is that which remains on the tongue [and is not put into practice] and the most superior form is that which is manifested through [the action of] the limbs and the organs of the body.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
He who seeks knowledge for Allah, no sooner does he learn even a chapter of it than it increases him in humility within himself, in humbleness in front of people, it increases his fear of Allah and his striving in religion, and that is the one who benefits from the knowledge, so he should acquire it.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
Whoever gives a speaker his full attention has indeed expressed a form of worship or adulation to him. If the speaker leads one to Allah through his words, then it is as if one worships Allah [by giving him attention], but if he leads one to Satan through his words, it is as if one worships Satan.
