رُبَّ مَفْتُونٍ بِحُسْنِ الْقَوْلِ فِيهِ

Imam Ali (as):

Many a person is seduced by the good things said about him!

احْذَرْ مِنَ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثَةً الْخَائِنَ وَ الظَّلُومَ وَ النَّمَّامَ لِأَنَّ مَنْ خَانَ لَكَ خَانَكَ وَ مَنْ ظَلَمَ لَكَ سَيَظْلِمُكَ وَ مَنْ نَمَّ إِلَيْكَ سَيَنُمُّ عَلَيْك .‏

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Stay away from three types of people: a treacherous person, a wrong-doer, and a talebearer, because he who betrays in your favor will someday betray you, he who wrongs others for you will eventually wrong you, and he who informs you on others will someday inform against you.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام: قُولُوا الْخَيْرَ؛ تُعْرَفُوا بِهِ، وَ اعْمَلُوا الْخَيْرَ؛ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ، وَ لَا تَكُونُوا عُجُلًا مَذَايِيعَ؛ فَإِنَّ خِيَارَكُمُ الَّذِينَ إِذَا نُظِرَ إِلَيْهِمْ ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ، وَ شِرَارَكُمُ الْمَشَّاؤُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، الْمُفَرِّقُونَ بَيْنَ الْأَحِبَّةِ، الْمُبْتَغُونَ لِلْبُرَآءِ الْمَعَايِبَ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Speak good words so you become known for it, and do good so you are considered of its people, and do not be rush and do not reveal secrets. Verily the best of you are those who, upon looking at them, Allah is remembered, and the worst of you are those who spread slander, cause separation among the loved ones and seek to find faults with innocent people.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إنّ مِن أكبَرِ السِّحرِ النَّميمَةَ؛ يُفَرَّقُ بها بَينَ المُتَحابَّينِ، و يُجلَبُ العَداوَةُ علَى المُتَصافِيَينِ، و يُسفَكُ بها الدِّماءُ، و یُهدَمُ بها الدُّورُ، و يُكشَفُ بها السُّتورُ، و النَّمّامُ أشَرُّ مَن وَطئَ علَى الأرضِ بقَدَمٍ

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

The greatest of sorcery is slandering, for through it loved ones are broken up, animosity is brought in between sincere friends, blood is shed, houses are demolished, veils are uncovered, and the talebearer is the most evil creature that has laid a step on this earth.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

قال رسول الله (ص) لٌاصحابهِ: ألا اخبِرُكُم بشِرارِكُم؟ قالوا: بلى يا رسولَ اللّهِ. قالَ: المَشّاؤونَ بالنَّميمَةِ، المُفَرِّقونَ بَينَ الأحِبَّةِ، الباغُونَ لِلبُرَآءِ العَيبَ.

Imam Ali (as):

The Messenger of Allah (s) said to his companions: Shall I inform you of the most evil from among you? They said, Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He continued, The talebearers, those who cause division among friends, and those who seek faults in the righteous.
