الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

وَ قَالَ ع عَلَى قَبْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص سَاعَةَ دَفْنِهِ إِنَّ الصَّبْرَ لَجَمِيلٌ إِلَّا عَنْكَ وَ إِنَّ الْجَزَعَ لَقَبِيحٌ إِلَّا عَلَيْكَ وَ إِنَّ الْمُصَابَ بِكَ لَجَلِيلٌ وَ إِنَّهُ قَبْلَكَ وَ بَعْدَكَ لَجَلَلٌ

Imam Ali (as):

When the prophet (SAWA) was being buried, Imam Ali (AS) said at his grave: Patience is good except over your loss, expressing distress is bad except over you; verily the calamity of losing you is tremendous while every other calamity before or after it is but small.

تَزَوَّجُوا فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتَّبِعَ سُنَّتِي فَإِنَّ مِنْ سُنَّتِيَ التَّزْوِيجَ.

Imam Ali (as):

You must get married, for verily the prophet said, ‘Whoever would like to follow my practice should know that marriage is a part of my practice.’

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

فِي الْقَلْبِ نُورٌ لَا يُضِي‏ءُ إِلَّا مِنِ اتِّبَاعِ الْحَقِّ وَ قَصْدِ السَّبِيلِ وَ هُوَ نُورٌ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مُوَدَّعٌ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

There is a light in the hearts that does not illuminate unless through following the truth and the straight path; It is a ray from the light of the prophets that has been deposited in the hearts of the believers.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

إِنَّا أُمِرْنَا مَعَاشِرَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أَنْ نُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ بِقَدْرِ عُقُولِهِمْ ...أَمَرَنِي رَبِّي بِمُدَارَاةِ النَّاسِ كَمَا أَمَرَنَا بِإِقَامَةِ الْفَرَائِضِ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

We the prophets have been commanded to speak to people according to the capacity of their intellects. Allah has commanded me to treat people amicably just as He has commanded me to fulfil religious obligations.

رَحِمَ اللَّهُ خُلَفَائِي فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ مَنْ خُلَفَاؤُكَ قَالَ الَّذِينَ يُحْيُونَ سُنَّتِي وَ يُعَلِّمُونَهَا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'O Allah! Have mercy on my successors.' He was asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! Who are your successors?' He said, 'Those who revive my practices, and then teach them to God's servants.'

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ ذَاكَ أَنَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُورِثُوا دِرْهَماً وَ لَا دِينَاراً وَ إِنَّمَا أَوْرَثُوا أَحَادِيثَ مِنْ أَحَادِيثِهِمْ فَمَنْ أَخَذَ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ مِنْهَا فَقَدْ أَخَذَ حَظّاً وَافِراً فَانْظُرُوا عِلْمَكُمْ هَذَا عَمَّنْ تَأْخُذُونَهُ فَإِنَّ فِينَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ فِي كُلِّ خَلَفٍ عُدُولًا يَنْفُونَ عَنْهُ تَحْرِيفَ الْغَالِينَ وَ انْتِحَالَ الْمُبْطِلِينَ وَ تَأْوِيلَ الْجَاهِلِينَ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Verily the scholars are the heirs of the prophets. And that is because the prophets did not bequeath gold and silver, rather they bequeathed their words and traditions. And one who grasps any of them has indeed secured an abundant gain. See who it is you take your knowledge from; for there exists, from among us [Ahl al-Bayt] in every generation, just individuals who negate the distortions of extremists, the fabrications of falsifiers and the [false] interpretations of the ignorant ones.

ثَلَاثَةٌ يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُشَفِّعُهُمُ: الْأَنْبِيَاءَ، ثُمَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ، ثُمَّ الشُّهَدَاءَ

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Three types of people have the right to intercede with Allah, and their intercession will be accepted: the prophets, then the scholars, and then the martyrs.

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):

الامام الباقر «ع»- فيما وصف به النبيّ «ص»: َ يَا مُحَمَّدُ لَعَلَّكَ تَرَى أَنَّهُ شَبِعَ مِنْ خُبْزِ الْبُرِّ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مُتَوَالِيَةٍ- مِنْ أَنْ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَنْ قَبَضَه‏؟ .. لَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا شَبِعَ مِنْ خُبْزِ الْبُرِّ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مُتَوَالِيَةٍ مُنْذُ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَنْ قَبَضَهُ أَمَا إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يَجِدُ لَقَدْ كَانَ يُجِيزُ الرَّجُلَ الْوَاحِدَ بِالْمِائَةِ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فَلَوْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ لَأَكَل‏.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):

You might think that the prophet spent three consecutive days having eaten to his full since the time Allah mandated him with prophethood until He seized his soul. No, by Allah, he was never satiated for three consecutive days eversince he was commissioned with prophethood until he was taken [to his Lord]. It was not because he did not have access to enough food; he would, sometimes, reward a person with one hundred camels; so had he wanted, he could have eaten.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

فَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ مُحَمَّداً «ص»بِالْحَقِّ لِيُخْرِجَ عِبَادَهُ مِنْ عِبَادَةِ الْأَوْثَانِ إِلَى عِبَادَتِهِ وَ مِنْ طَاعَةِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِلَى طَاعَتِهِ بِقُرْآنٍ قَدْ بَيَّنَهُ وَ أَحْكَمَهُ لِيَعْلَمَ الْعِبَادُ رَبَّهُمْ إِذْ جَهِلُوه‏ وَ لِيُقِرُّوا بِهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَحَدُوه‏.

Imam Ali (as):

… then Allah sent Muhammad with truth so that he may take out His servants from the worship of Idols into His worship, from obeying Satan into His obedience, by virtue of a book [the Quran] which He clarified and solidified, so that the servants may know their Lord after being ignorant of Him and acknowledge Him after denying Him.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إنَّ اللّه عزّ و جلّ لَم يَبْعثْ نَبيّا إلاّ بصِدقِ الحديثِ و أداءِ الأمانةِ إلَى البَرِّ و الفاجرِ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Allah did not send anyone as a prophet unless they possessed two qualities: they were truthful in speech and they would return a trust to its owner be he good or wicked.
