Imam Ali (as):

Imam Ali (as):
A time like a gnashing camel will come upon the people, when the rich will grip onto their wealth by their teeth, even though they have been commanded otherwise, for God has said, «Do not forget to be generous to one another». At this time, the wicked will rise, while the virtuous will be humiliated, and the helpless will be forced to sell their goods for a pittance despite the prohibition by God’s Messenger.

Imam Ali (as):
Sustenance is of two types: one that seeks and one that is sought. Seekers of the world are sought by death, and death will expel them from it. Seekers of the hereafter are sought by the world, and it will give them their full share.

Imam Ali (as):
Asked, “If a man’s door is locked with him inside, where does his sustenance enter from ?” ʿAlī replied: The same place from which his death will enter.

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (AS), speaking to his son Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyya, said, 'O son, I fear for you because of poverty, so seek refuge in Allah from it, for poverty brings diminishment in one's faith, confusion to the intellect and is a motive for hatred.'

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (AS) was asked; 'How will God call all people to account despite their large number?' to which he replied: 'Just as He provides them with livelihood despite their large number.' Then he was asked: 'How will He call them all to account without their seeing Him?' to which he replied: 'Just as He provides their livelihood even though they cannot see Him.'

Imam Ali (as):
Greed takes a person to the watering place but gets him back without letting him drink of It, undertakes responsibility but does not fulfil it. Often the drinker gets choked before the quenching of his thirst. The greater the worth of a thing yearned for the greater is the grief for its loss.
