مَا الْـمُجَاهِدُ الشَّهِيدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ بِأَعْظَمَ أَجْراً مِمَّنْ قَدَرَ فَعَفَّ، لَكَادَ الْعَفِيفُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَلَكاً مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ
Imam Ali (as):
The fighter who is martyred in Allah's way has no greater reward than the one who is able to sate himself but remains chaste. The chaste person may well become one of the angels.

وعن أبي جُحَيْفَةَ قال: سمعت أميرالمؤمنين عليه السلام يقول: أَوَّلُ مَا تُغْلَبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْجِهَادِ الْجِهَادُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ، ثُمَّ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ، ثُمَّ بِقُلُوبِكُمْ؛ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ بِقَلْبِهِ مَعْرُوفاً، وَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ مُنْكَراً، قُلِبَ فَجُعِلَ أَعْلاَهُ أَسْفَلَهُ، وَأَسَفَلُهُ أَعْلاَهُ
Imam Ali (as):
Abū Juḥayfah related: I heard the Commander of the Faithful say: In the fight against evil, the first thing to be overcome is the hand, then the tongue, then the heart. Once the heart stops recognizing good or condemning evil, it is upended and turned topsy-turvy.

Imam Ali (as):
Among the obligatory rights of Allah upon His servants is that they should give good advice to one another to the best of their ability, and collaborate for the establishment of the truth among them.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The one who endeavors to help his brother and benefit him has the reward of the warriors in the way of Allah.

إِنَّ أَبْخَلَ النَّاسِ مَنْ بَخِلَ بِالسَّلَامِ وَ أَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ مَنْ جَادَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَ مَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The most miserly person is the one who is miserly with the greeting of peace [he does not greet others], and the most open-handed of people is he who gives freely of himself and his wealth in the way of Allah.

وَ مَا مِنْ قَطْرَةٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مِنْ قَطْرَتَيْنِ قَطْرَةِ دَمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ قَطْرَةِ دَمْعَةٍ فِي سَوَادِ اللَّيْلِ لَا يُرِيدُ بِهَا عَبْدٌ إِلَّا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ.
Imam al-Sajjad (as):
No drops are more beloved to Allah, the Exalted, than two: a drop of blood [shed] for the sake of Allah, and a teardrop shed by a servant in the darkness of the night solely for Allah's sake.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
There are some people whose sustenance lies in trading, some whose sustenance is in sword and others whose sustenance is secured through their tongue.

إنّما شِيعَةُ عليٍّ مَن عَفَّ بَطنُهُ و فَرجُهُ ، و اشتَدَّ جِهادُهُ ، و عَمِلَ لِخالِقِهِ ، و رَجا ثَوابَهُ ، و خافَ عِقابَهُ، فإذا رأيتَ اُولئكَ فاُولئكَ شِيعَةُ جعفرٍ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily the Shia of Ali were those who restrained their stomachs and their sexual desires, who struggled and fought intensely, who worked hard for their Creator, who hoped for His reward and feared His punishment. If you have seen such people, then they are the very Shia of Jafar.
