مَنْ نَکَحَ إِمْرَأَةً لِمالِها حُرِمَ مالُها وَجَمالُها وَمَنْ نَکَحَ لِلدّینِ وَفَّقَ اللّه ُ لَهُ الْخَیْرَ وَالْجَمالَ وَالْمالَ
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
He who marries a woman for her beauty and wealth will be deprived of her beauty and wealth, whereas the one who marries a woman for her faith, Allah will give him to enjoy and benefit from her goodness, beauty, and wealth.

تَقَاضَى عَلِيٌّ وَ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فِي الْخِدْمَةِ فَقَضَى عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ ع بِخِدْمَتِهَا مَا دُونَ الْبَابِ وَ قَضَى عَلَى عَلِيٍّ ع بِمَا خَلْفَه‏ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Ali and Fatima sought the prophet’s advice about household chores, and the prophet (s) suggested that Fatima should do the chores that are done inside the house and Ali should do the chores that required him to go out.

أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ رَفَعَتْ مِنْ بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا شَيْئاً مِنْ مَوْضِعٍ إِلَى مَوْضِعٍ تُرِيدُ بِهِ صَلَاحاً إِلَّا نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا وَ مَنْ نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ لَمْ يُعَذِّبْه .‏
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Any woman who so much as moves something from one place to another in her husband’s house in order to make an improvement is regarded by Allah with mercy and whoever Allah regards with mercy He does not punish.

لَا تُمَلِّكِ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ مَا يُجَاوِزُ نَفْسَهَا فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَنْعَمُ لِحَالِهَا وَ أَرْخَى لِبَالِهَا وَ أَدْوَمُ لِجَمَالِهَا فَإِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ رَيْحَانَةٌ وَ لَيْسَتْ بِقَهْرَمَانَة .
Imam Ali (as):
Do not assign to a woman a matter that is beyond her capability and strength, for this is more prosperous to her state, more fitting for her temperament and more enduring for her beauty. Verily a woman is a flower, and she is not an administrator.

مَنْ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً لَا يَتَزَوَّجُهَا إِلَّا لِجَمَالِهَا لَمْ يَرَ فِيهَا مَا يُحِبُّ وَ مَنْ تَزَوَّجَهَا لِمَالِهَا لَا يَتَزَوَّجُهَا إِلَّا وَكَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
He who marries a woman solely for her beauty will not find in her what he likes, he who marries her for her wealth Allah relegates him to that wealth, so look to marry women of faith.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُحِبُّ الْبَيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ الْعُرْسُ وَ يُبْغِضُ الْبَيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ الطَّلَاقُ وَ مَا مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ أَبْغَضَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مِنَ الطَّلَاقِ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, loves the house wherein a wedding is taking place, and despises the house wherein a divorce is in process, and nothing is more abominable to Allah than divorce.

إِذَا جَاءَكُمْ مَنْ تَرْضَوْنَ دِينَهُ وَ أَمَانَتَهُ يَخْطُبُ إِلَيْكُمْ فَزَوِّجُوهُ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُنْ فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَ فَسادٌ كَبِيرٌ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
When someone comes to you with a proposal of marriage and you are well-pleased with his faith and his integrity then accept him in marriage, for if you do not, discord and corruption will prevail in the land.

Imam Ali (as):
The man with the most comfortable lifestyle is he whom Allah, Glory be to Him, has granted contentment and to whom he has given a virtuous wife.

يُفَتَّحُ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ بِالرَّحْمَةِ فِي أَرْبَعِ مَوَاضِعَ عِنْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَطَرِ وَ عِنْدَ نَظَرِ الْوَلَدِ فِي وَجْهِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَ عِنْدَ فَتْحِ بَابِ الْكَعْبَةِ وَ عِنْدَ النِّكَاح‏ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The gates of heaven are opened with mercy in four occasions: at the time of the rainfall, when a son looks at the faces of his parents [with the look of kindness on his face], when the door of the Ka'ba gets opened, and at the time of someone’s marriage.

مَا مِنْ شَابٍّ تَزَوَّجَ فِي حَدَاثَةِ سِنِّهِ إِلَّا عَجَّ شَيْطَانُهُ يَا وَيْلَهُ يَا وَيْلَهُ عَصَمَ مِنِّي ثُلُثَيْ دِينِهِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللَّهَ الْعَبْدُ فِي الثُّلُثِ الْبَاقِي .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
When a young person gets married at the prime of his youth, his inner Satan cries out in rage, ‘Woe unto him! Woe unto him! he has now secured two-thirds of his religion against me.’ So he has only to be wary of his duty to Allah in the remaining one-third.
