الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

تَمَثَّلَتِ اَلدُّنْيَا لِعِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ فِي صُورَةِ اِمْرَأَةٍ زَرْقَاءَ فَقَالَ لَهَا كَمْ تَزَوَّجْتِ قَالَتْ كَثِيراً قَالَ فَكُلٌّ طَلَّقَكِ قَالَتْ بَلْ كُلاًّ قَتَلْتُ قَالَ فَوَيْحَ أَزْوَاجِكِ اَلْبَاقِينَ كَيْفَ لاَ يَعْتَبِرُونَ بِالْمَاضِينَ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

One day, this world appeared before Jesus (PBUH) in the guise of a beautiful, celestial woman. Jesus asked her: How many times have you married? She said: Numerous times. He asked: Did they all divorce you? She said: No, I killed all of them! Jesus said: Woe to your current husbands! How could they not consider the fate of those who have come before them?

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):

الكافي عن زُرارَة عَن أبي جَعفَرٍ عليه السلام ، قال : قالَ لي: أ لاَ أدُلُّكَ عَلى شَيءٍ لَم يَسْتَثنِ فيهِ رَسولُ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله ؟ قُلتُ : بَلى ، قالَ : الدُّعاءُ؛ يَرُدُّ القَضاءَ وَ قَد اُبرِمَ إبراما ـ وَ ضَمَّ أصابِعَهُ ـ .

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS) said, 'Shall I guide you to something about which the Prophet (s) set no exception?' I replied, 'Yes.' The Imam then said, 'Supplication wards off Fate even if it has been firmly decided.'

لا يَرُدُّ القَضاءَ إلَّا الدُّعاءُ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Nothing wards off fate except supplication.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

إنّ أخْسَرَ النّاسِ صَفْقَةً وَ أخْيَبَهُم سَعْياً: رجُلٌ أخْلَقَ بَدنَهُ في طَلبِ مالِهِ وَ لَم تُساعِدْهُ المَقاديرُ على إرادَتِهِ، فخَرجَ مِن الدُّنيا بحَسْرَتِهِ، وَ قَدِمَ على الآخِرَةِ بتَبِعَتِهِ.

Imam Ali (as):

Verily the biggest loser with the worst end of the deal and the most unsuccessful in his striving is the man who exhausts his body in the quest for his wealth even though fate does not help him in his aims, and he consequently leaves this world with regret while heading towards the Hereafter, where he will face its ill consequences.
