إِنَّ لِلسَّخَاءِ مِقْدَاراً فَإِنْ زَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ سَرَفٌ وَ لِلْحَزْمِ مِقْدَاراً فَإِنْ زَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ جُبْنٌ وَ لِلِاقْتِصَادِ مِقْدَاراً فَإِنْ زَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ بُخْلٌ وَ لِلشَّجَاعَةِ مِقْدَاراً فَإِنْ زَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ تَهَوُّر .
:
Verily generosity has a set limit, which if overstepped, turns into squandering. Prudence has a limit, which if overstepped, becomes cowardice. Economizing has a limit, which if overstepped, turns into miserliness. And courage has a set limit, which if overstepped, becomes foolhardiness.

لَا تُشْرِكَنَّ فِي رَأْيِكَ جَبَاناً يُضَعِّفْكَ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ (الْأُمُورِ) وَ يُعَظِّمْ عَلَيْكَ مَا لَيْسَ بِعَظِيمٍ.
Imam Ali (as):
Do not ever let a coward have any part in forming your opinion, lest he weaken you in your affairs and delude you into regarding as great that which is not so.
