Imam al-Jawad (as):

Imam al-Jawad (as):
Whoever gives a speaker his full attention has indeed expressed a form of worship or adulation to him. If the speaker leads one to Allah through his words, then it is as if one worships Allah [by giving him attention], but if he leads one to Satan through his words, it is as if one worships Satan.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
It is enough of a fault for a man if he sees in people the very same fault that he possesses but to which he is blind, or if he blames others for that which he himself is unable to abandon.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
As for the past nations, when any of them disregarded their scripture, God took away from them the knowledge of their scripture, and when they took their enemies as allies, God gave mastery to their enemies over them. And their disregarding of the scripture was such that they protected its wordings but distorted its limits; they recited and narrated it without observing its limits; the ignorant were impressed by how attentive they were in narrating it but the scholars grieved over their lack of compliance with its limits.
