Patience in the Qur'an

Patience is one of the greatest virtues in Islam. Patience means a believer’s resistance against problems in order to grow closer to God. ¹

Imam al-Sadiq (PBU) said: 

Patience is the uppermost part of faith.”²

According to the Quran, The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) tests all believers with different types of tragedy such as fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits.The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) said:

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. ³

Then he encourages all believers to have patience. The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) said:

Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. ⁴
