Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: Jesus the son of Mary (PBUH) asked Gabriel (PBUH): When will Judgement Day be? Gabriel began to tremble a great trembling until he lost consciousness. When he awoke, he said: Oh Spirit of God! The one who has been inquired knows no more than the inquirer. The answer is with He to whom the heavens and the earth belong. The Day of Judgement will not come but unexpectedly.

Imam Ali (as):
The man of reason sets out for no purpose other than these three: to seek his livelihood, to take a step forward on the path of return to God, or to enjoy pleasures that are not forbidden.

Imam Ali (as):
There are two kinds of workers in the world: One is a person who works in this world for this world and his concern for this world keeps him unmindful of the next world. He is afraid of destitution for those he will leave behind but feels himself safe about it. So, he exhausts his life trying to benefit others. The other is one who works in this world for what is to come afterwards, and he secures his share of this world without effort. Thus, he gets both the benefits together and becomes the owner of both the houses together. In this way, he is prestigious before Allah and if he asks Allah anything, He does not deny him.
