الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ ع فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ مَسَائِلَ فَأَجَابَ ثُمَّ عَادَ لِيَسْأَلَ عَنْ مِثْلِهَا فَقَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ اَلْحُسَيْنِ ع مَكْتُوبٌ فِي اَلْإِنْجِيلِ لاَ تَطْلُبُوا عِلْمَ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ وَ لَمَّا تَعْمَلُوا بِمَا عَلِمْتُمْ فَإِنَّ اَلْعِلْمَ إِذَا لَمْ يُعْمَلْ بِهِ لَمْ يَزْدَدْ صَاحِبُهُ إِلاَّ كُفْراً وَ لَمْ يَزْدَدْ مِنَ اَللَّهِ إِلاَّ بُعْداً .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

"Imam Sajjad (PBUH) said: In the Gospel, it is written: Do not seek knowledg of that which you do not know until you act upon that which you already know. For verily knowledge that is not acted upon will only take you further away from God."

قَالَ اَلْمَسِيحُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ إِنَّمَا اَلدُّنْيَا قَنْطَرَةٌ فَاعْبُرُوهَا وَ لاَ تَعْمُرُوهَ.

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

Jesus (PBUH) said: This world is no more than a bridge; so cross it and do not spend time adorning it.

مَنْ ثَبَتَ عَلَى وَلَايَتِنَا فِي غَيْبَةِ قَائِمِنَا أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ أَجْرَ أَلْفِ شَهِيدٍ مِثْلِ شُهَدَاءِ بَدْرٍ وَ أُحُدٍ.

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

He who stands firm in adhering to our guardianship during the occultation of our awaited saviour will be granted by Allah the reward of a thousand martyrs like the martyrs of the battle of Badr and Uhud.

الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):

إِنَّهَا لَتَزْهَرُ بَيْنَ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ كَمَا يَزْهَرُ الْكَوْكَبُ الدُّرِّيُّ بَيْنَ الْكَوَاكِبِ لِأَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ يَغْشَى نُورُهَا أَبْصَارَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ جَمِيعاً وَ هِيَ تُنَادِي أَنَا أَرْضُ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ الْمُبَارَكَةُ الَّتِي تَضَمَّنَتْ سَيِّدَ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَ سَيِّدَ شَبَابِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّة.

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

The land of Karbala illuminates among the gardens of Paradise the way a glittering star illuminates among other stars for the dwellers of the earth, the light of which captivates the eyes of all the dwellers of Paradise, and it calls out: “I am the sacred, pure and blessed land of Allah which contains the pure body of the master of martyrs and the chief of the youth of Paradise.”

ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَا تَزَالُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا كَانَ لَكَ وَاعِظٌ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ و ... وَ مَا كَانَ الْخَوْفُ لَكَ شِعَاراً وَ الْحُزْنُ لَكَ دِثَارا

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

O son of Adam! You will continue to be good as long as you have an advisor within yourself, … and insofar as fear is your undergarment, and caution is your clothing.

اللَّهُم‏ … وَ حَلِّنِي بِحِلْيَةِ الصَّالِحِين‏ … فی … السَّبْقِ إِلَى الْفَضِيلَة .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

O Allah, Adorn me, like You have adorned the righteous, with being foremost in practicing virtues and doing good.

إِيَّاكَ وَ مُصَاحَبَةَ الْبَخِيلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَخْذُلُكَ فِي مَالِهِ أَحْوَجَ مَا تَكُونُ إِلَيْه .‏

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

Beware of befriending a miser, for he will deny you his wealth when you are in dire need of his financial support.

Verily the one whom Allah is most pleased with from among you is the one who is the most generous towards his dependents.

وَ أَمَّا حَقُّ الصَّغِيرِ فَرَحْمَتُهُ وَ تَثْقِيفُهُ وَ تَعْلِيمُهُ وَ الْعَفْوُ عَنْهُ وَ السَّتْرُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الرِّفْقُ بِهِ وَ الْمَعُونَةُ لَهُ وَ السَّتْرُ عَلَى جَرَائِرِ حَدَاثَتِهِ فَإِنَّهُ سَبَبٌ لِلتَّوْبَةِ وَ الْمُدَارَاةُ لَهُ وَ تَرْكُ مُمَاحَكَتِهِ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى لِرُشْدِه .‏

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

The right of a youngster is that you should show mercy to him educate him well, teach him and pardon him, cover his faults and treat him gently, help him and conceal the offences of his young age [from others], for this will cause him to repent, you should also treat him amicably and avoid quarreling with him for that is more likely to rectify him.

الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):

وَ أَمَّا حَقُّ الزَّوْجَةِ فَأَنْ تَعْلَمَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ جَعَلَهَا لَكَ سَكَناً وَ أُنْساً فَتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ نِعْمَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَيْكَ فَتُكْرِمَهَا وَ تَرْفُقَ بِهَا .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

The right of your wife is for you to know that Allah has made her a source of tranquility and intimacy for you and to acknowledge that this is a favor upon you from Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and thus honor her and treat her gently.
