Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When Imam al-Sadiq (as) was asked whether or not farming was [religiously] detested, he said, 'Engage in planting [trees] and cultivating [crops], by Allah no occupation is more pure and permissible than it. By Allah plants will be cultivated and trees will be planted even after the emergence of Dajjal.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
My father [Imam Ali al-Sajjad (as)] used to say, 'The best of occupations is tilling the land, the produce of which is eaten by both the good-doer and the wrongdoer. That which the good-doer eats will seek forgiveness on his [i.e. the grower's] behalf, and that which the wrongdoer eats will curse him [i.e. the wrongdoer]. The birds and animals eat thereof too.'
