Whoever conceals his sickness from physicians has betrayed his body.

Imam al-Hussain (as):
Do not prescribe any remedy for a [arrogant] ruler, for if it benefits him, he will fail to show gratitude to you, and if it harms him he will accuse you.

إنَّ نبيّاً مِنَ الأنبياءِ مَرِضَ، فقالَ: لا أتَداوى حتّى يكونَ الَّذي أمرَضَنِي هُو الذي يَشفينِي، فأوحَى اللّهُ تعالى إلَيهِ: لا أشفِيكَ حتّى تَتَداوى.
:
A prophet from among the prophets fell sick and said, I will not treat myself [with medicine] until the One who made me sick heals me . Then Allah revealed to him saying, I will not heal you until you treat yourself [with medicine].

اِبْدَؤوا بِالمِلْحِ فِي أوَّلِ طَعَامِكُمْ، فَلَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِي المِلْحِ لاخْتَارُوُهُ عَلَى الدِّرْيَاقِ المُجَرَّبِ.
Imam Ali (as):
Start with salt before you eat. If people knew what [benefits] salt has, they would prefer it to tested medicine.

لا يَستَغْني أهلُ كلِ بلدٍ عن ثلاثةٍ يُفزَعُ إليهِم في أمرِ دُنياهُم وَ آخِرَتِهِم، فإن عَدِموا ذلكَ كانوا هَمَجاً؛ فَقيهٌ عالِمٌ وَرِعٌ، وَ أميرٌ خَيّرٌ مُطاعٌ، وَ طبيبٌ بَصيرٌ ثِقةٌ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The people of every land cannot be without three [types of people] to whom they rush for the affairs of their life in this world and their Hereafter - and if they lack them, they will be in severe distress: a knowledgeable and pious scholar, a good and obeyed ruler, and a trustworthy and experienced physician.
