الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

مَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيَفْتَحَ عَلَى عَبْدٍ بَابَ الشُّكْرِ وَيُغْلِقَ عَنْهُ بَابَ الزِّيَادَةِ، وَلاَ لِيَفْتَحَ عَلَى عَبْدٍ بَابَ الدُّعَاءِ وَيُغْلِقَ عَنْهُ بَابَ الاْجَابَةِ، وَلاَ لِيَفْتَحَ عَلَى عَبْدٍ بَابَ التَّوْبَةِ وَيُغْلِقَ عَنْهُ بَابَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

Imam Ali (as):

When God has opened the door of gratitude for you, he will not close the door of increase. When he has opened the door of prayer for you, he will not close the door of fulfillment. When he has opened the door of repentance for you, he will not close the door of forgiveness.

الدَّهْرُ يَوْمَانِ: يَوْمٌ لَكَ، وَيَوْمٌ عَلَيْكَ؛ فَإذَا كَانَ لَكَ فَلاَ تَبْطَرْ، وَإِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ فَاصْبِرْ!

Imam Ali (as):

Life consists of two days: one day is for you, another is against you. When things are working in your favor, don’t swagger. When things are going against you, be patient.

Imam Ali (as):

Imam Ali (AS) said to a man soliciting advice from him, 'Do not be of those who … are not grateful for what they receive and covet for an increase in whatever remains with them.'

الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):

وَ أَمَّا حَقُّ الزَّوْجَةِ فَأَنْ تَعْلَمَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ جَعَلَهَا لَكَ سَكَناً وَ أُنْساً فَتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ نِعْمَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَيْكَ فَتُكْرِمَهَا وَ تَرْفُقَ بِهَا .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

The right of your wife is for you to know that Allah has made her a source of tranquility and intimacy for you and to acknowledge that this is a favor upon you from Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and thus honor her and treat her gently.

إنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ قَلبٍ حَزينٍ ، و يُحِبُّ كُلَّ عبدٍ شَكورٍ .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

Indeed Allah loves every sorrowful heart and loves every grateful servant.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

إنّ اللّهَ عَزَّ و جلَّ أنعَمَ على قَومٍ فلَم يَشكُرُوا فَصارَت علَيهِم وَبالاً ، و ابتَلى قَوما بِالمَصائبِ فَصَبَرُوا فَصارَت علَيهِم نِعمَةً .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, bestowed a favour upon a people but they did not give thanks, consequently it became a burden upon them, and He tried a people with afflictions but they endured the trial and as a result they turned into blessings for them.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

قالَ اللّهُ عَزَّ و جلَّ : عَبدِي المؤمنُ لا أصرِفُهُ في شيءٍ إلاّ جَعَلتُهُ خَيرا لَهُ ، فَلْيَرضَ بِقَضائي ، و لْيَصبِرْ على بَلائي ، و لْيَشكُرْ نَعمائي ، أكتُبْهُ يا محمّدُ مِن الصِّدِّيقِينَ عِندي .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Allah, Mighty and Exalted, said, 'I do not oblige my believing servant to do something unless I make it good for him; so let him be pleased with My decree, endure My trial and be thankful for My favors, and I will record him, O Muhammad, among the truthful.'

الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):

يقولُ اللّهُ تباركَ و تعالى لِعبدٍ مِن عَبِيدِهِ يَومَ القِيامَةِ : أ شَكَرتَ فُلانا ؟ فيقولُ : بَل شَكَرتُكَ يا ربِّ ، فيقولُ : لَم تَشكُرْني إذ لَم تَشكُرْهُ .

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

Allah will ask one of His servants on the Day of Resurrection, ‘Did you thank x?’, and the servant will reply, ‘No, but I thanked You instead, O Lord.’ Allah will reply, 'You have not thanked Me because you did not thank him.'
