Hadiths Of Two Sources of Adornment

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

عَلَيْكَ بِالسَّخَاءِ وَ حُسْنِ الْخُلُقِ، فَإِنَّهُمَا يُزَيِّنَانِ الرَّجُلَ كَمَا تُزَيِّنُ الْوَاسِطَةُ الْقِلَادَةَ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

You must adopt generosity and good naturedness for they adorn man just as a gemstone adorns a neckless.

حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ يُورِثُ الْمَحَبَّةَ وَ يُؤَكِّدُ الْمَوَدَّة .

Imam Ali (as):

Good-Naturedness brings about love and enhances amity.

أَحْسَنُ النَّاسِ إِيمَاناً أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقاً وَ أَلْطَفُهُمْ بِأَهْلِهِ وَ أَنَا أَلْطَفُكُمْ بِأَهْلِي .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The most faithful of the believers are those who are the moat good-natured and the kindest to their family and I am the kindest of you to my family.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

ذِكْرُ الْمَوْتِ يُمِيتُ الشَّهَوَاتِ فِي النَّفْسِ وَ يَقْلَعُ مَنَابِتَ الْغَفْلَةِ وَ يُقَوِّي الْقَلْبَ بِمَوَاعِدِ اللَّهِ وَ يُرِقُّ الطَّبْعَ وَ يَكْسِرُ أَعْلَامَ الْهَوَى‏ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

The remembrance of death kills [vain] desires in the self, uproots the sources of heedlessness, reassures the heart about Allah’s promises, softens one’s disposition, and breaks the pillars of unlawful] inclinations.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

أَ لاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَشْبَهِكُمْ بِي قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ، قَالَ أَحْسَنُكُمْ خُلُقاً وَ أَلْيَنُكُمْ كَنَفاً وَ أَبَرُّكُمْ بِقَرَابَتِهِ وَ أَشَدُّكُمْ حُبّاً لِإِخْوَانِهِ فِي دِينِهِ وَ أَصْبَرُكُمْ عَلَى اَلْحَقِّ وَ أَكْظَمُكُمْ لِلْغَيْظِ وَ أَحْسَنُكُمْ عَفْواً وَ أَشَدُّكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ إِنْصَافاً فِي اَلرِّضَا وَ اَلْغَضَبِ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The Prophet once asked his companions, ‘Shall I inform you who amongst you resemble me the most?’ They replied, ‘Yes O Messenger of Allah.' He then said, ‘They are those who are the best of you in character, the most lenient of you in their treatment of others, the kindest of you to their near ones, the most loving of you towards their fellow brothers, the most patient of you with the truth, those who are the best in restraining their anger and pardoning others, and the ones who best maintain fairness when pleased or angered.'

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ رَحِيمٌ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ رَحِيمٍ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, is merciful, and He loves every merciful person.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

إِنَّ خِيَارَكُمْ أُولُو اَلنُّهَى قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ وَ مَنْ أُولُو اَلنُّهَى قَالَ هُمْ أُولُو اَلْأَخْلاَقِ اَلْحَسَنَةِ ... و اَلْمُتَعَاهِدِينَ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَ اَلْجِيرَانِ وَ اَلْيَتَامَى وَ يُطْعِمُونَ اَلطَّعٰامَ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The prophet (s) said, ‘Verily the best among you are those endowed with understanding.’ Then the prophet was asked who they were, to which he replied, ‘They are the ones who have the best moral traits, and care for the poor, their neighbors, and the orphans, and give food [to the needy].’

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

إنّ أقرَبَكُم مِنّي غَدا و أوجَبَكُم عَلَيَّ شَفاعَةً : أصدَقُكُم لِسانا ، و أدّاكُم لِلأمانَةِ ، و أحسَنُكُم خُلُقا ، و أقرَبُكُم مِنَ الناسِ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Verily the closest from among you to me tomorrow [in the Hereafter], and the most eligible of you for my intercession are those who are the most truthful from amongst you, the most conscientious at returning a trust placed in their care, the most good-natured, and the ones who have close ties with people.
