Imam Ali (as):
ʿAlī was asked, “Which is better, justice or generosity?” he replied: Justice puts things in their rightful place, while generosity takes things out of their proper direction. Justice is a universal motivator, while generosity is a particular caretaker. Thus, justice is nobler and better of the two.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Shall I inform you of the best virtues in the world and the hereafter? [They are] pardoning someone who has wronged you, reconciliation with the one who has cut you off, doing good to the one who has done bad to you, and giving to the one who has deprived you.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
There are three things through which Allah only increases the Muslim in honour: his pardon of one who has wronged him, his giving to the one who has deprived him, and his reconciliation with one who has cut him off.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
My father, once, held my hand and said, 'My son, my father; Muhammad ibn Ali (al-Baqir) once held my hand as I am holding yours right now and said, …My son, do good to everyone who seeks good from you, for if he is worthy of it, then you have deposited it in its proper place, and even if he is not worthy of good, you are worthy of doing it. And if someone insults you on your right hand side, then moves over to your left and apologizes to you, accept his apology.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Humbleness has stages; that one knows the value of his self and places it in its right position with a sincere heart, that he likes to treat people the same way he expects them to treat him, that he responds the wrong with good, that he controls his anger and forgives the people. And Allah likes the good doers.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily charity will bring more abundance to its donor, so give charity and Allah will have mercy on you. And verily Humbleness elevates one's status, so be humble, and Allah will raise your status. And verily pardon will increase one's honour, so do pardon and Allah will grant you honour.
