الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
إنَّ اللّهَ تباركَ وتعالى إذا كانَ مِن أمْرِهِ أن يُكرِمَ عَبداً وَ له عِندَه ذَنبٌ ابْتَلاهُ بالسُّقْمِ، فإنْ لَم يَفعَلْ فبِالحاجةِ، فإنْ لَم يَفعَلْ شَدَّدَ علَيه عندَ المَوتِ. وإذا كانَ مِن أمرِهِ أنْ يُهينَ عَبداً وَ لَه عندَهُ حَسَنةٌ أصَحَّ بَدنَه
“每当安拉欲优待某人时，就因那人的罪恶而用病痛折磨他，否则就让他遭遇贫穷，否则就让他在临死时遭受痛苦的折磨。每当安拉欲凌辱某人时，如果那人有善举，安拉使他身体健康，否则使他生活安逸，否则使他轻松地死去。”
