Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

امتَحِنوا شِيعَتَنا عِندَ ثَلاثٍ: عِندَمَواقيتِ الصَّلاةِ كيفَ مُحافَظَتُهُم علَيها، وعِندَ أسرارِهِم كيفَ حِفظُهُم لَها عِندَ عَدُوِّنا، وإلى أموالِهِم كيفَ مُواساتُهُم لإخوانِهِم فيها.

Test our Shia with regard to three things: the prayer times to see how well they observe them, their secrets to see how well they guard them...

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

مَن كانَ رفيقا في أمرِهِ نالَ ما يُريدُ مِنَ الناسِ .

One who is lenient and moderate in his affairs will obtain whatever he wants from people.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ: «إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ‏» قَالَ: «الْقَلْبُ‏ السَّلِيمُ الَّذِي يَلْقى‏ رَبَّهُ وَ لَيْسَ فِيهِ أَحَدٌ سِوَاهُ.

I asked Imam al-Sadiq (as) about the verse of God in the Quran: "...except for him who comes to God with a sound heart." He replied: A sound...

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

مَن رَضِيَ مِن اللّهِ بِاليَسيرِ مِن المَعاشِ رَضِيَ اللّهُ مِنهُ بِاليَسيرِ مِن العَمَلِ.

Whoever accepts from Allah the little livelihood, Allah will accept from him the little in actions.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

مَنْ زَارَ أَخَاهُ‏ فِي اللَّهِ وَ لِلَّهِ، جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَخْطُرُ بَيْنَ قَبَاطِيَ‏ مِنْ نُورٍ ، لَايَمُرُّ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ إِلَّا أَضَاءَ لَهُ حَتّى‏ يَقِفَ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ- عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- لَهُ‏: مَرْحَباً، وَ إِذَا قَالَ‏: مَرْحَباً، أَجْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‏ لَهُ الْعَطِيَّةَ.

اُقصُرْ نَفسَكَ عَمّا يَضُرُّها مِن قَبلِ أن تُفارِقَكَ ، وَاسعَ في فَكاكِها كَما تَسعى في طَلَبِ مَعيشَتِكَ ؛ فإنَّ نَفسَكَ رَهينَةٌ بِعَمَلِكَ .
